This is one and only post that will take hardly 15 minutes to write. Why? Because each and every word comes straight from my heart. I would like to tell you about my Journey since the inception of my blog. First of all, I would like to thank my readers who support and encourage me, Secondly, I would like to thank all the Bloggers in my niche, who motivate me to level up. This blog is my strength, it gives me hope and zeal to learn and grow as a person, as an Influencer and of course as a Writer.
When I started my blog in 2017, the first thing that came into my mind was “who are the top players in this industry?” Then I started my research and came across a few bloggers who are game changers in the beauty industry. I started following them on social media to keep a tab on their latest posts to learn more about Fashion, Makeup, DIYs, Health Tips and more. Every day there is something new to learn.
How I discovered my passion for Blogging?
When I started buying makeup products, initially I would purchase drugstore brands like Lakme and Maybelline. I was really fond of lip colors but the pocket money was limited in college days. When I was in my MBA, I bought my first M.A.C. Foundation. I was so excited to use it as it was my first ever purchase from a high-end brand. I loved MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation so much that I went to the store and purchased more products including MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick, MAC Strobe Cream. I wasn’t aware about the concept of blogging until I discovered a few Vloggers from Youtube. I would learn professional makeup tips from number of artists like Nikkia Joy and Tina Yong. I started reading reviews, beauty tips, DIYs , weight loss. On the other hand, I wanted to become a professional MUA too. I remember doing my first Engagement Makeup for one of my acquaintance and getting paid for it. I felt so elated for the money I had earned through my makeup skills, without getting any professional degree. Then I got a few more clients for bridal and party makeups through references. However, I had to wait around for the references and opportunities and meanwhile all my expensive makeup products were waiting for their expiration date. Now, I came across top 100 beauty blogs on https://blog.feedspot.com/indian_beauty_blogs/ and came across a blog that would pay me to review all my makeup products. I started writing for that blog and covered almost half of the cost of each product reviewed. I wanted to communicate my idea freely with the readers. The only way of doing it was by starting my own unique Blog. With taking any professional help, I made my own blog through WordPress. WordPress provides a platform for a novice like me to start a new website.
Success within 2 years of Blogging-
Recently, I received a mail from the Founder of Feedspot, a website that gives a rating to blogs provides information about new blogs and helps you to keep a track of all the blogs in one place.
So Mr. Anuj Agarwal informed me that my blog has been listed among Top 100 Beauty Blogs In India. I just couldn’t believe my eyes when I read that mail. I would still consider myself a beginner, trying to become a better writer and photographer. Looking forward to collaborating with new brands.
Now, after almost 2 years of blogging, I would like to tell all my readers how blogging has changed my life-
Having a blog has made me a better writer
“Good things come to those who wait” – Not true for bloggers. You need to work every day, post something better than before, work on self-improvement and improve your PR skills. You don’t have to wait for brands to collaborate, you have to approach them with a professional pitch. Earning fame doesn’t come easy with blogging. As they say “The secret of becoming a writer is to write, write and keep on writing.”
Having a blog means having an opinion
Yes, be it right or wrong, I have my own opinion about a product, a style, or a place. I just feel like sharing it with the world. After all, this is what blogging is all about.
No matter how much a blogger succeeds, it is always important to make contacts with other bloggers. Honestly, the blogging community is very supportive and encouraging. There’s a lot to learn and explore from other bloggers because each blogger has a unique style and opinion.
It keeps me busy
Honestly, there’s nothing I do apart from sleeping or blogging in my free time. Before my blog, I was literally a couch potato that frittered away months in front of Netflix and Youtube. Blogging gives me inner peace, I feel I’m being more productive with each write-up!
Blogging isn’t easy – but it is totally worth it if you love it!
